The Homes

St. Joseph’s Home for Boys and Guest House

St. Joseph's Home for Boys was Michael Geilenfeld's dream that became a reality in 1985, bringing boys off the streets of Port-au-Prince to provide them with a Christian home and family. Since that time it has grown from five boys in a very small rental house to more than 15 boys in a wonderful home with guest facilities, a chapel, and an art center. Visitors become a part of the extended family when they stay st St. Joseph's, enjoying presentations by St. Joseph's Family dance troupe, Resurrection Dance Theater, or the St. Joseph's Family a cappella group, Resurrection Singers, or taking in the impressive collection of Haitin art. Visitors may also join Michael and the boys in chapel, experiencing the unique joy of worshipping "St. Joseph's style!" Wings of Hope

WingsWhen French missionaries announced they were leaving Haiti and needed to find care for the disabled children under their supervision, Michael took some of the older boys from St. Joseph's to choose a child to bring home and care for. But the boys surprised Michael when they chose to adopt all the children, reminding him that he had taught them that with God, all things are possible. Indeed, Wings of Hope is now a thriving home for disabled children, recently rebuilt and expanded to include a day school for disabled community children and lovely guest facilities. Wings of Hope is largely staffed by graduates of St. Joseph's. (Email Renee Dietrich at sjgrants@hotmail.com to make inquiries about staying at Wings.)

Trinity House

TrinityTrinity House is the latest home to be established by graduates of St. Joseph's and is located in the beautiful seaside town of Jacmel. Fifteen young boys live together in the home on a hilltop overlooking the sea. The facility will eventually include rooms to host guests, a dance studio, and space for retreats for artists and other interested groups. Commercial bakery equipment has been donated to the boys there and will provide a means of economic development when the bakery portion of the home is completed. A day school called Lekòl Sen Trinite operates at Trinity House and serves the poorest children in the neighorhood who would never have a chance to become educated without this Trinity House outreach program.
