The Art Work of Kathy Ammon
Kathy Ammon is known for bold and expressive paintings of humanity. She credits her southern childhood experiences of faith and family with her passion for creating works that explore concepts of love and relationships.
Ammon received her formal training in painting through a BA in painting through combined studies at the University of South Carolina and the University of Texas at Dallas. From 1985 -1988, she studied under Frits van Eeden, a renowned artist from the Pulchri Arts Society of The Hague, Netherlands.
Kathy has been a professional artist since 1988 and was juried into Artspace in 1997. Her studio is open to the public and located in a unique art center that houses artists studios and galleries in the City Market of downtown Raleigh, NC.
Since July, 2008 when Kathy saw Bill Nathan and Walnes Cangas perform and participate in worship at Apex United Methodist Church, she and Taki Donovan have been discussing ways to collaborate so that her art could benefit the St. Joseph Family. She has a selection of paintings available, and she has pledged 50% of the revenues to Hearts with Haiti to benefit the St. Joseph Family.
